What are the ceremony rooms like at Sale Town Hall?

There are two choices of rooms for your wedding ceremony at Sale Town Hall: The Ceremony Room or The Mayor’s Parlour.

The Ceremony Room is the most popular choice with its classic atmosphere of high ceilings, big windows and wood panelling. The room is available Monday to Saturday and can accommodate you both plus 55 guests. When choosing this room, you can personalise your ceremony with music and readings.

The Mayor’s Parlour is suited to more intimate weddings with the set ceremony script. (Note that you can’t personalise your ceremony in this room) It offers a smaller capacity of eight guests and is available only on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Sale Town Hall is perfect for intimate and mid-sized ceremonies. You can have 55 guests in The Ceremony Room and 8 guests in The Mayor’s Parlour.

How much does it cost to get married at Sale Town Hall?

The exact cost depends on what day and time you get married. Costs tend to go up each year too. The fee for 2026-27 is £200 Monday-Thursday, £285 for Fridays and Saturday mornings and £380 for Saturday afternoons.

Can you have photos inside Sale Town Hall?

Yes – the registrars are more than happy to accommodate professional wedding photography. They are very relaxed about where your photographer can stand during the ceremony. You are also welcome to have pictures taken with your guests in the ceremony rooms or on the stairs, as long as you exit the building before the next wedding party arrives.

Are outdoor wedding photos possible at Sale Town Hall?

Yes – the steps outside Sale Town Hall are a great spot for your portraits or group photos.  The nearby canal is also a great spot for a few portraits, or we head to local green spaces like Walkden Gardens or Walton Park for more photos.

Does Sale Town Hall allow confetti?

Yes – confetti is allowed on the steps outside Sale Town Hall. Confetti makes for a wonderful shot of you walking out the building to be greeted by your guests. Just please don’t throw it before you get outside!

Is there parking at Sale Town Hall?

Yes, you can request a permit for one car to park right outside Sale Town Hall during your ceremony. There’s plenty of nearby parking for guests too in Sainsbury’s or Tesco car parks, which are a few minutes walk away.

For guests coming via public transport, Sale Metrolink tram stop is just across the road with a journey time to Manchester of 20 minutes.

You can have a drinks reception straight after your ceremony. These are held in ‘Sup Bar & Coffee House at Waterside Arts Centre right next door.

When should you book your wedding photographer for Sale Town Hall?

As soon as you’ve secured your ceremony date. Local weddings are popular, and dates book up quickly, especially at weekends and during the summer.

The function room balcony overlooks the cricket pitch and is lovely on a summer evening. There’s a big car park too, making it a practical choice for a large number of guests.
  5. The Brooklands Tap: A relaxed, modern pub with cosy decor and a lively atmosphere — ideal for couples keeping things chilled and close to home. Private hire is available in their function room with a capacity for up to 120 people.
