Some weddings feel less like a formal event and more like a joyful gathering of your favourite people. And that’s exactly what this beautiful, laid-back celebration at Plas Dinam Country House turned out to be. Set against the stunning backdrop of rolling Welsh hills on a sunny August day, Seren and Rob’s wedding was all about fun, laughter, and the little personal touches that made it truly unique.
From the moment I arrived for Seren and Rob’s wedding at Plas Dinam, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a traditional, buttoned-up affair. The girls were busy putting the finishing touches to their hair and make-up in the cottage, whilst the guests chatted on the lawn waiting for the ceremony to begin. The atmosphere was so easygoing and cheerful — with friends and family catching up and enjoying each others company in this wonderful setting.
Wedding at Plas Dinam Country House
Rob and Seren held their wedding ceremony on the back lawn at Plas Dinam, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding hills whilst saying ‘I do’. One of the most heartwarming moments of the day? The bride’s dog proudly taking centre stage as the ring bearer. Dressed in a sweet floral collar and clearly loving all the excitement, this pooch was enjoying the day as much as the guests!
After tying the knot, Seren and Rob walked down the aisle to confetti and a singalong to Beyoncé’s ‘Love on Top’. It was such a fun and surprising moment that captured exactly what the couple had hoped for — a day that felt real, unpolished, and joyfully theirs. Just watch out for those key changes!
Speaking of music… rather than hiring a band or DJ, the couple turned to their friends — a talented bunch who provided all the musical entertainment for the day. They led the guests in several singalongs throughout the wedding which went down a storm! It was casual, communal, and completely unique to Rob and Seren as a couple.
Non-Traditional Wedding
The couple decided to skip the traditional first dance, but not without a twist. During the drinks reception, a group of friends surprised everyone by teaching a Zumba dance routine, right there on the lawn. What started as a few brave volunteers quickly turned into a full crowd of guests, laughing, dancing, and giving it their all.
Later that evening, instead of the first dance, everyone gathered together to perform the Zumba routine as a group. It was energetic, chaotic in the best way, and absolutely full of joy. It didn’t matter who had rhythm or not — what mattered was how connected everyone felt in that moment. After 14 years of being a wedding photographer, I can honestly say I’d never seen anything like it. What fun!
