It’s such a pleasure to be a trusted Plas Dinam wedding photographer. I love shooting weddings there because I find the atmosphere suits my style so well. My wedding photographs are colourful, natural and fun. So if you’re planning a joyful wedding day to remember, you can rely on me to capture it in style!
If you’ve not visited Plas Dinam Country House in person yet, you’re in for a treat. Plas Dinam is nestled in the Severn Valley near Llandinam in Powys, Wales. The house is a unique Victorian mansion built in the 1870’s, set in 12 acres of stunning gardens and woodland, with spectacular views of the rolling Welsh countryside.
The Plas Dinam estate has long been the cherished home of the Davies family. In 2012, Eldrydd Davies and her family rejuvenated the estate, transforming it into an exclusive-use wedding venue. Plas Dinam now offers accommodation for up to 34 guests and the stables party barn seats up to 160 guests. The house also features a small museum detailing its history for those who want to find out more about its rich heritage.
5 reasons to get married at Plas Dinam Country House
- The location is simply beautiful. You couldn’t get better unspoilt views of the hills and valleys, making Plas Dinam the perfect choice if you’d like an outdoor ceremony in the countryside. Plus the gardens are spectacular, offering you loads of different backdrops for your wedding photos.
- Choice of ceremony options. I don’t know many wedding venues that offer multiple locations for wedding ceremonies. At Plas Dinam, you can choose to get married outside on the lawn, in front of the house or in the woodland area. There’s also an option to hold your ceremony indoors in case of wet weather.
- Exclusive use of the venue. It makes such a difference to have a venue all to yourself, knowing everyone on site is there to celebrate with you. The great thing about Plas Dinam is that you can stay all weekend. So by the time I arrive to snap away, the party is already in full swing! It’s such a treat to get your guests together over a whole weekend to build lasting relationships. A true joining of two families.
- DIY, but make it luxury! Plas Dinam is your home for the weekend and there are no rigid rules to follow. You can bring in your own caterers and have any kind of food you want, supply your own booze and go wild with your choice of theme, from simple home-made decorations to amazingly colourful floral displays. I’ve seen all kinds of weddings at Plas Dinam; the venue really lends itself to imaginative non-traditional couples. All whilst being luxurious and special.
- Family-owned and run. Plas Dinam was a family home and still feels that way, thanks to the top-notch hospitality from the friendly team. You’ll feel well looked after when you hold your wedding at Plas Dinam. I know I do when I visit!

Colourful Wedding at Plas Dinam
Without further ado, here’s one of my favourites: a colourful wedding at Plas Dinam. Bethany and Sam certainly fall into the super cool couple category, having an outlook on wedding planning that’s after my own heart! Their wedding day was ALL about the joy and celebration. Together they created a welcoming, fun and informal atmosphere for their guests to kick back and enjoy the day. They made sure everyone got involved in their multi-cultural wedding. From Bethany’s bridesmaids in different colourful dresses to their excellent MC. And a full compliment of groomsmen by Sam’s side.
Colourful Wedding Photography
Colour was a key feature of Sam and Bethany’s wedding decor, which anyone who knows my wedding photography will know I’m into. I think having a colourful colour scheme adds so much joy to a wedding day and makes your wedding photographs really POP! Bethany carried a gorgeous rainbow wedding bouquet by Perfect Bouquet Full of Flowers and each of her bridesmaids wore a bold colour-block dress in magenta, yellow or cyan.
Bethany and Sam chose an outdoor ceremony underneath a colourful floral arch that really sang against the countryside landscape of Plas Dinam. It was the most perfect location to say I do and incredibly for April, it was really sunny and warm too! After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the spring air in Plas Dinam’s gardens, before heading to the stables for the wedding breakfast.

The stables at Plas Dinam have a glass roof, making it feel like the outdoors inside. Bethany and Sam chose to have long wooden tables for easy mingling, which were decorated with colourful yet simple wild flowers. There were some fantastic little personal touches in their wedding decor ideas, such as displaying their parents singing the register photos. They also had temporary wedding tattoos for their guests to put on. Plus shots on arrival at the wedding breakfast. Now that’s a way to get your guests going!
In keeping with their informal theme, the couple chose Malaysian street food caterers 5 Foot Way for a delicious buffet wedding breakfast. I’m SO here for ditching traditional meat-and-two-veg dinners for something way more interesting. (This was one of my favourite wedding meals ever!) The meal was followed by some raucous speeches from the couple, Bethany’s dad and the best men. And the night of dancing was kicked off with a sparkler entrance and confetti canon for the first dance. Absolutely fantastic!
Sam & Bethany added a wedding highlights video to their Plas Dinam wedding photographer package. The highlights film was such fun to shoot and put together. I enjoyed watching this whole riot of colour again and again!
