It’s January and it’s cold! So what better time to share a winter wedding in Manchester? The frosty winds may have us wrapping up warm, but Sabrina & Tom’s wedding is sure to warm your cockles on a chilly day!
Eagle-eyed readers of my blog might remember Tom & Sabrina. This lovely couple got hitched first time around during lockdown. They held a small but perfect micro wedding at The Midland Hotel Manchester back in 2020.
I remember being blown away by the support that their friends and family showed them by turning up outside the Midland Hotel to throw confetti and wish them well. Even though at the time they weren’t allowed to come in!
Fast forward two years and fortunately, things had gotten much better. Sabrina & Tom were able to do it all over again and have their wedding at The Midland. Only this time, it was a huge party!

Sabrina & Tom chose to ditch convention for their wedding and re-arranged the timeline of their wedding day to suit them. They had a later afternoon wedding ceremony and chose to have a first look to make the most of the light for photographs.
The first look was so special and it was great to capture Tom & Sabrina’s excitement of seeing each other all dressed up and ready to get married! I took the couple to St. Peter’s Square and Manchester Central Library for portraits, which is a short walk away from the Midland Hotel. Their photos are so happy and natural and I could have kept shooting them all day!
We also took the opportunity to tick off all their important group photographs, so that their guests could enjoy the party as soon as the ceremony was done. And boy, did the party kick off quickly! Sabrina had arranged a brass band to strike up straight after their wedding ceremony. It was a brilliant surprise for everyone and really set the tone for the party atmosphere which carried on throughout the day and into the night.
Here’s what Sabrina had to say about her and Tom’s wedding photography experience…
“I honestly don’t have the words to thank you enough. You blow my mind every time with the photos you get! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Thank you Sabrina! It’s been a pleasure to shoot both your wedding days and see your family grow! Thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding in Manchester.

Winter Wedding in Manchester
There’s something about a winter wedding in Manchester that’s a little bit magical. Hosting a winter wedding gives you the chance to do something a little bit different. Like Sabrina & Tom, you could play around with the traditional wedding timeline to suit yourselves, rather than tradition.
You could also get creative with your wedding catering and offer your guests delicious seasonal treats, like mulled wine and hot chocolate at your drinks reception to hearty comfort food for your wedding breakfast. Favours such as gingerbread men would be so cute!
The wintery backdrop of Manchester provides urban canvas for capturing your photos. And whilst you can never guarantee a dusting of snow upon the cobbles, a wedding portrait session in front of one of Manchester’s iconic buildings always looks fantastic.
