When you start a wedding by photographing the rings on a Lego Kylo Ren, you know it’s going to be a great day… Myself and Jo Gendle Films had a fabulous time capturing Kirsty & Ross’ wedding back in April. They had chosen to do things a little differently by having a small, intimate wedding with their nearest and dearest. They had also chosen to break with tradition and got ready together at home, which made for a really relaxed morning until the Saddleworth Vintage Bus arrived! I’m a big fan of vintage buses as I think they’re so charming and it was great to ride with the bridal party to Ordsall Hall in Salford where the ceremony was held.
Nestled right in the middle of Salford, Ordsall Hall is a real surprise gem that dates back to Tudor times (its rumoured that Guy Fawkes spent a night or two there). It has a beautiful oak-panelled ceremony room and a lovely garden, so you should check it out if you’re looking for a city venue with traditional charm. Music was provided by the Dotted Crotchets who treated us to wonderful string arrangements of classic pop hits, going down a treat during and after the ceremony when we were having photos, drinks and canapés. Also a hit with the guests was Chris Murphy the caricaturist, who drew everyone with skill and flair (you can see Kirsty & Ross’ caricature later in my blog).
The reception dinner was held a short vintage bus ride away at Artisan Kitchen in Manchester. As Jo and myself walked in, we were blown away by the wedding cake which was made by The Little Cherry Cake Company and featured a quote from Pan’s Labyrinth; ‘come inside and meet the Mrs’! Kirsty & Ross had also put goody bags together for all of us containing a personalised wedding card game for everyone to play – how excited were Jo and I when we opened our bags in the taxi?!
Big thanks to Kirsty & Ross for letting us be a part of your day. Here’s what they had to say about their photos: “Thank you so much – we love love love them! And we love the highlights slideshow too! We’re over the moon! Thanks for everything you’ve done for us!”
