Today on the blog, I’m sharing the gorgeous Tipi wedding Cumbria of Sarah & Brendan. These two had travelled all the way from New York to marry in Sarah’s home village. Their wedding was a big Anglo-American celebration which was great fun for all their guests.
The day began getting ready at Sarah’s family home. I loved the styling of Sarah’s bridal gown accessorised with a red lip and sapphire earrings. The autumnal bouquet complemented Sarah’s style perfectly too. I also adored the ruffled navy bridesmaids dresses worn with espadrilles. Sarah’s family dog was such a sweetheart and I couldn’t resist asking her to pose for a picture just before the girls went to the church. And once everyone was ready, it was a short walk over to St. Cuthbert’s for the ceremony.
The ceremony was personal with songs performed brilliantly by one of the guests. Once Sarah & Brendan were married, they were greeted by a brass band and then pelted with gold glittery confetti canons. It was quite an exit! In traditional Cumbrian fashion, Brendan & Sarah were not allowed to exit the church until they had paid their dues to the local kids, who had tied the church gates with rope during the ceremony. Once they were free, they walked over to the tipi with the brass band leading the way.
The guests then enjoyed champagne and delicious oysters in the garden before heading to the tipi. The tipi was beautifully decorated with green foliage and candles, with local Kendal Mint Cake liqueur given to all the guest as a tipple. The guests were then treated to dinner and speeches in the tipi before night fell and it was time to party. And once the the music started the dance floor was absolutely rammed!
Congratulations Sarah & Brendan and thank you for having Cath & I along!
