It was my first time shooting Stockport Plaza Wedding Photography at Rebecca & John’s big day. I had an absolute blast! When you plan your wedding in a beautiful Art Deco cinema, you really have to embrace the Old Hollywood theme. And that’s exactly what Rebecca & John did. Rebecca looked stunning in beaded 1920s style gown, complete with vintage style hair and make-up. The vintage cinema touches didn’t end there; Rebecca & John had decorated the Plaza with old movie posters, gramophones and had given out tickets to their guests. They even had an geometric Art Deco cake!

Rebecca & John were married on stage and chose a personal ceremony led by Cate Baines. I really love the pictures from the ceremony as they are so different to to any other venue I’ve been to. Another one of my favourite moments was when were lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour. My favourite portraits from the day are in the old projection room. As an added bonus, we were able to secretly watch the guests being entertained by vintage cartoons. Jo Gendle had made a silent movie especially for the day, with Rebecca & John in the leading roles. It went down brilliantly with all the guests!

Here’s what Rebecca and John had to say about their photos… “I know it makes us sound a bit crazy, but we knew we wanted to book Cass as our photographer before we even got engaged! She was shooting a friend’s wedding and we were so impressed by how assertively she handled the crowds (which is so often like herding sheep…) and how at the same time she managed to blend seamlessly into the wedding, never seeming obtrusive or awkward. We took her card that day, and when we saw the photos from that wedding it sealed the deal! When we were engaged, we got in touch and arranged to meet Cass at Stockport Plaza for a brew and a chat, and we loved that she totally just ‘got’ the concept of the wedding.
We really wanted to be able to show off the Plaza to its full extent, as it is such a beautiful building. We wanted to complement the era of the cinema with nods to classic Hollywood, but really wanted to avoid creating a Gatsby fancy dress party!
The photos Cass has taken are all amazing, and really show off the gorgeous details of the building at their best. She captured some really beautiful and moving moments from the wedding, along with some hilarious moments from the evening too! We also took the option of having a second shooter and I’m so glad that we did- having shots of both of us getting ready and several angles for the ceremony has definitely paid off. Taking some portraits in the projection room of the cinema was totally inspired and has resulted in our favourite pictures of the day- we couldn’t be happier! Thank you!”
Thank you so much Rebecca & John and congratulations!
