I was very excited when Rakhi & Adam asked me to photograph their two-part wedding and now both weddings are done, I’m so glad I got to be a part of them because I had a blast! Today I’m sharing part one with you which took place last Saturday at Honily Court Hotel in Coventry. Myself and Jo Gendle Films travelled down to document the day and as soon as we arrived for getting ready we were made to feel so welcome by Rakhi’s family at her mum’s home. Rakhi looked stunning in her traditional bridal outfit and jewellery and once she was ready, we couldn’t wait to see what was in store for the rest of the day.
It was my first time documenting a Hindu wedding and it was a privilege to witness the different rituals that are part of the marriage ceremony, such as exchanging garlands and walking around the fire before becoming husband and wife. The ceremony was brilliant to photograph as it was so colourful and many different family members were involved in the action.
After the ceremony it was time for us to party! Some more guests joined us for the evening and we were treated to amazing Indian food before the DJ got us up dancing. The Punjabi music, accompanied by an amazing live drummer was totally infectious and I soon found myself dancing away with all the guests (I’m a bit of a natural according to Rakhi’s aunty!)
Congratulations Rakhi & Adam! Thank you for having me along and don’t forget to tune in for wedding number two soon 🙂
