On Saturday, my second shooter Nicola and I joined Charlie & Jake for their wedding at The Inn at Whitewell. The country inn in Clitheroe provided the perfect backdrop for guests from Liverpool and Denmark to join together to celebrate Charlie & Jake’s marriage. With the sun out and the river running by outside the marquee it really was idyllic.
Charlie & Jake had chosen Reverend Phil Parkinson to conduct their personal and emotional ceremony. They said their vows in Dutch and English so all their guests could understand the importance of their promises to each other.
After the ceremony, we followed the footpath down the the river for some portraits. Everyone had a good laugh getting across the stepping stones and I was glad I brought my wellies so I could wade in the river to get the perfect shot of Charlie & her bridesmaids (I didn’t fall in I’m pleased to say!).
During the morning’s preparations, I had asked Jake’s sister Rikke about Dutch wedding traditions and she told me about the tradition of cutting off the grooms socks! Even though we were in England, Jake’s friends weren’t going to let him get away with it and appeared with scissors after the first dance! There was another surprise at the reception too, when Charlie’s relative and World Champion yo-yoer treated us to impromptu yoyo display!!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Laurson!
