When I met Ashley & Matt at John Rylands Library for their engagement shoot, I knew that they were a couple who wanted to do things their way on their wedding day. They chose the fabulous Belle Epoque Brasserie in Knutsford for their wedding and created a relaxed day featuring all of their favourite things.
Ashley & Matt had put together an eclectic mix of decorations for their wedding which included an Adventure Time & Krispy Kreme cake combo, Spitfire planes as wedding favours, tattoo table plans and bubbles instead of confetti. But most of all the day was packed full of love, for each other and for their family and friends, as epitomised by the reading Matt’s dad Noel delivered during the ceremony.
I had expected great things from Ashley’s wedding dress when she mentioned she had bought it from The White Closet (which is near my house and I walk past all the time to look at the dresses!) and her Jenny Packham wedding gown was truly gorgeous. The bridesmaids looked fabulous in their unusual blue & white printed dresses with petticoats and Matt also looked dapper in a tweed suit, complete with pocket watch.
If you can learn one thing from Ashley & Matt’s day, it’s to give your photographer time for portraits. I was really spoilt as Ashley & Matt had allocated two whole hours for portraits (one before dinner and one after), meaning we could take a walk up Knutsford high street and later on go to Tatton Park for additional photos. More time = more portraits = more awesome!
Once we got back to The Belle Epoque it was time to party! I was let into the secret that Ashley & Matt had booked a special band to play for their evening reception – The PJ Party Band, who rocked the dance floor in their pyjamas. My second shooter Laura and I were loving their tunes!
Congratulations to Mr & Mrs White – thank you for having us along for your day!
