Today on the blog, I’m excited to share Soph & Alex’s Mellor Field wedding that took place last weekend. Their day was relaxed, DIY wedding with creative homemade touches and most of all, lots of fun! Everything was exactly as Soph & Alex wanted and these two smiled and laughed all day long.
I was fortunate enough to join Soph’s family again after photographing her sister Em’s wedding to Matt a couple of years ago (see their Styal Lodge wedding photographs here). It was wonderful to catch up with the family again, with two new additions to the gang since last time!
This wedding was a real family affair. Alex & Soph were married by Soph’s uncle in a personal ceremony at All Saints Church, Marple. The light in the church coming through the stained glass was gorgeous. The ceremony had a relaxed atmosphere too. The guests were handed sweets and watched a video during the signing of the register. And I loved how Alex & Soph danced down the aisle on their way out!
After the ceremony, it was on to Mellor Field wedding marquee for the reception. This location has fantastic views looking over Manchester and the Peak District hills. The marquee set-up suited Soph & Alex’s plans for a fun day down to a tee. All the creative touches inside were a real treat, from the handmade flags as table settings to the biscuit themed table plan. Outside there was plenty to keep the guests entertained, with a coconut shy and garden games for them to enjoy.
Soph & Alex had a wonderful attitude towards wedding traditions, just going with the flow and enjoying their day, their way. So when it was time to party, everyone got up at once and enjoyed dancing the night away. And wow, those burgers at the end of the night were very popular (and delicious!). You know it’s been a good day when you leave the wedding with a burger and a cocktail in a plastic cup!

Mellor Field Wedding
Mellor Field is an open space in the village of Mellor in Stockport where you can have an outdoor wedding. Soph & Alex had a marquee in the field, but there is also space for a tipi or other outdoor wedding.
